Before you pull out that candy bar for your afternoon snack today, consider opting for a nosh that does double duty — feeding your body AND your brain.
Research has shown that certain foods have been found to contain nutrients and compounds that can actually help boost your brain’s ability to function at more optimum levels.
Some of my brain-healthy snacking favorites include:
* Blueberries. I wash them, place them in a small plastic container and carry them in my bag when I’m traveling.
* Almonds. I usually just carry a bag of plain, unsalted almonds, but will sometimes treat myself to the honey roasted version if I’m craving something sweet.
* Dark Chocolate. A good, low-sugar, high cocoa content dark chocolate pairs particularly well with almonds.
