Reflecting on Life’s Lessons Through Friendship and Loss

A few years ago, I found myself at a funeral that hit me harder than I expected. It was for a childhood friend who passed away suddenly. As I sat there, early as usual, I watched a parade of people from all walks of life come to pay their respects. Seriously, it felt like half the town showed up. Young, old, family, friends, co-workers — you name it. The sheer number of people who came was staggering, and it struck me how many lives my friend had touched in his short time on earth.

As the service began, I couldn’t help but reflect on the guy I knew — the kid who shared my love for comic books, sports, and endless games of tag. Seeing the diverse crowd made me realize how much he had grown and impacted so many people. It wasn’t his job titles or worldly achievements that drew them in but the man he had become and the legacy he left behind. It got me thinking, who would come to my funeral, and what would they say?
